Halle Berry :Chance to Find New Talent

Halle Berry, a Hollywood superstar and the former wife of MLB player David Justice, has gotten word that Aretha Franklin wants her to play the lead role of a biopic about the life of the music diva.

According to ABC24.com: "Aretha Franklin has confirmed producers are moving forward with plans to bring her life story to the big screen in a new biopic even though the actress Franklin wants has denied she's set to sign on for the lead role."

The plan is for Aretha to adapt her biography Aretha: From These Roots to a movie.

During a phone interview with The Wendy Williams Show, Franklin confirmed the plans for the movie: "For the last four years, we've been talking about (the film), and I have had a number of offers. Unfortunately, they were not good offers. Now, we have something on the table."

"They have all of the financing on one project... (and are) in the process of writing things for me to approve...Halle Berry is my pick...There's a young Aretha that has yet to be named."

But Berry apparently doesn't want to play Aretha. Or, she's simply underestimating herself.

In an interview with E! Online during the Golden Globes, Berry said: "If I could carry a tune, I'd consider it. Someone should tell Aretha that I can't do her justice."

Berry should not be so quick to dismiss the possible role. Voice lessons may be able to do her wonders.
